Protocol aspects for cooperative communications in wireless sensor networks

Abstract:

Cooperative communication schemes hold the promise to harvest some of the gains in reliability and rate that are becoming possible with recent multi-antenna techniques using a bunch of cooperating single-antenna nodes. This cooperation, however, often requires explicit coordination and also demands for resources on the wireless channel and in the cooperating nodes (memory, computational power). In this talk we will explore some of the design aspects that need to be considered for utilizing cooperative schemes in wireless sensor networks, where the available resources are severely constrained.
