Title:

Securing distributed event based systems

Location:

Archway 2 - 1:00 pm, Friday 8 April

Abstract:

Both distributed event based systems and complex event processing engines have been shown to scale up effectively, for the application domains they are suited to. However, many instances of these middleware technologies achieve this scalability by using techniques that are not appropriate for handling sensitive information. The SmartFlow project aims to facilitate efficient data dissemination without sacrificing data security.

This talk will provide a quick overview of distributed event based systems, and discuss my ongoing research into the integration of access control and information flow control approaches into these event based systems.
