Over the recent years mobile devices and in particular smartphones and tablets have become more powerful. It was not only their computing power that increased, but most mobile devices also integrate a large set of additional features such as sensors and communication capabilities not found in other computing devices. This makes them an interesting platform for various research directions. In my talk, I will give examples of my work in the field of visual computing on mobile devices where I work at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Graphics, Computer Vision and Pervasive Computing. In the beginning, I will introduce myself and my research background by summarising some of my research works prior to joining the University of Otago. Following that, I will give insights into my current projects in the field of visual computing on mobile devices, in particular my work on mobile telepresence, mobile interfaces for situated media, and mobile health.
