Title:

The Augmented Mirror Box Project

Location:

Archway 2 - 1:00 pm, Friday 23 April

Abstract:

This presentation provides the background, concept, system implementation and studies related to the development of a mixed reality system that can be used for various therapeutic purposes, including the treatment of impaired limbs due to strokes or injury. The project builds on what is known as 'mirror box therapy', using a hard and software prototype that has been developed over the last two years. Apart from its therapeutic uses, the prototype can also be used to study the nature of body self-perception, pain and related phenomena.

The project team includes Liz Franz (Psychology), Brian Dixon (Practicing Clinical Psychologist), Graham McGregor (Office of the Dean, School of Business) and Simon Hoermann as a PhD student in Information Science.
