Title:

Seeing through Many Eyes

Location:

Archway 2 - 1:00 pm, Friday 16 July

Abstract:

Recent years have seen significant advances in many areas of computer vision. One of the areas that has moved rapidly from theory to application is the reconstruction of models of the world from large sets of images. Constructing high quality 3D models of the world by taking photos or video of a scene or object has become a practical reality.

In this talk I will present results in this field from my commercial research work over the last four years. This from creating large mosaics from visible and thermal aerial imagery at the Geospatial Research Centre to building 3D models of scenes and objects at Areograph. An overview of the underlying techniques and outstanding challenges will also be given.
